Nebraska falls 74-58 in Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals to Purdue

Nebraska men’s basketball (26-6) started the Big Ten Tournament against Purdue (25-8) on Friday in the quarterfinals. The Boilermakers once again defeated the Huskers, ending Nebraska’s run with a 74-58 outing.

Purdue took control from the start, capitalizing on Nebraska miscues and going up by as much as 18. Though the Huskers cut the deficit down to eight partway through the second half, the Boilermakers took off in the end.

Purdue also scored 17 points off eight Nebraska turnovers in the first half and finished the game shooting 26-of-58 from the floor. The Boilermakers also outrebounded the Huskers 37-29, outshot them at the free throw line 12-4 and held a 19-8 advantage in second-chance points.

Nebraska, meanwhile, hit 22-of-56 on the night and 10-of-31 from beyond the arc. Pryce Sandfort scored a team-high 15 points after hitting 6-of-14 from the floor and 3-of-8 from three-point range. Rienk Mast shot 4-of-9 and 3-of-8 for 11 points.

Nebraska is guaranteed a spot in the NCAA Tournament, but now awaits its seeding. The Selection Show is set for Sunday at 5 p.m. CT on CBS.
