Top LSU Tigers Safety Target Honor Fa’alave-Johnson Commits to USC Trojans

by

The LSU Tigers have gotten a lot of their top targets in the short time since Lane Kiffin got to campus, but they have just lost out on one of them as Honor Fa’alave-Johnson committed to the USC Trojans on Saturday, per Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Fa’alave-Johnson is one of the top defensive players in all of the country. The 247Sports composite rankings have him as the No. 16 player in the nation, the top-rated athlete and the top-ranked from the state of California.

The San Diego star has a sky-high ceiling and would be really fun to watch in this defensive system, but it looks like the Tigers are going to need to find some different options on the market.

In the current era of college athletics, they won’t back down from their pursuit of Fa’alave-Johnson until pen is put to paper on signing day next year.

LSU does already have one elite recruit committed for 2027 in South Carolina EDGE Jaiden Bryant. They’re already known to be in one five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, though he has not yet committed to a school. The only other player they already have on the books for next year is quarterback Peyton Houston.

The Tigers do have some younger safeties already on the books with Tamarcus Cooley and Dashawn Spears entering their junior campaigns, Fahee Delane as a sophomore and incoming freshman Aiden Hall. There is certainly enough room to add an elite safety in the 2027 class.

For now, though, they’ll have to look beyond Fa’alave-Johnson to make that happen.
