Believe it or not, spring practice starts at the end of this week and we’ll get our first preview of the 2026 Notre Dame football team. Leading up to Friday of this week, we’ll have tons of content coming your way including a preview of the Fighting Irish safety room, a look at the Top 10 secondaries of college football and the biggest questions on the offensive and defensive sides of the football. But before we get to all of that, we have our weekly buy/sell/hold.
Our premium message board subscribers brought it this week with tons of great submissions. We covered everything from big picture college football topics and potential national title game matchups to predicting breakouts on the Notre Dame roster and, of course, some movie preferences. It was another fun day of answering the buy/sell/hold submissions. You can watch all of that and more on today’s episode of the Irish Breakdown Podcast.

Here are some of the submissions we answered in today’s buy/sell/hold:
On If Florida Has A Top Five Receiving Corps…
“I personally don’t think that they do so this is a sell for me. I don’t think that their talent stacks up against some of the other receiving corps heading into this season. I wouldn’t take them over Notre Dame or Clemson’s. I do agree with the other teams that you have on this list. Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and Miami all belong here but even Ohio State is debatable. They have the clear-cut No. 1 receiver in college football with Jeremiah Smith coming back but outside of that, it’s Brandon Inniss and a lot of unproven talent. I’m also not saying Notre Dame should be in the top five, but it’s definitely a debate.”

On If All Of Marcus Freeman’s Teams Would Have Beaten Any Brian Kelly Team…
“Look, we talk a lot about Brian Kelly for various reasons, but let’s also not act like Notre Dame didn’t have any good teams between 2010 and 2021. The 2012, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2020 teams could all beat the Notre Dame 2022 or 2023 team. A lot of the Brian Kelly led teams were good in spite of the coaching. Now, when we’re talking about the 2024 and 2025 teams, it’s a different story, but let’s not act like Notre Dame had zero talented teams during the Brian Kelly era.”
On The Expectations For Notre Dame In 2026…
“We’ll dive a lot more into this as the season progresses, but I buy that the minimum expectation is that this team plays in the College Football Playoff Semi Finals. This is arguably the most talented roster in the country and one of, if not the most, talented roster Marcus Freeman has had since taking over in 2023. In 2024, they exceeded expectations, last year they under performed. What’s in store for 2026?”
