The Georgia Bulldogs announced what their plans were for their annual G-Day spring football game on Thursday, and it will most certainly disappoint many fans who cannot attend.
University officials confirmed what many have come to expect in recent years. Georgia will not be airing their scrimmage on television at all this year.
G-Day festivities will be taking place around 1pm ET, Saturday, April 18, but fans who cannot attend in person will be out of luck in terms of tv viewing.
Georgia Bulldogs fans can still follow along with the Spring Game
Kirby Smart and his staff clearly have several fair motivations for not showing their scrimmage on tv these days. Strategically, they don’t want opponents to be able to see anything they’re installing scheme-wise. Georgia also doesn’t want opponents getting free tape on potential players to target and tamper with when that time comes later this year either. On top of that, giving fans a reason to come see the game in person creates a fun atmosphere for fans, players, and everyone involved. However, for those fans who can’t make it, not having a tv option is a bummer.
What can fans do if they want to follow along? Bullldogs fans can listen to the scrimmage via their usual radio broadcast. Live blogging will likely take place once again by on-site media. We’ll also have some big takeaways written here at A to Z Sports for Bulldogs fans.

If fans do want to head to Athens for the G-Day activities it will cost $10 with some free parking available in certain lots close to the stadium.
Georgia Bulldogs fans need to get used to Spring Game never being televised
Many college football programs have begun getting rid of the spring games all together, taking extreme caution to avoid showing much of anything to the public (or spies from other programs who might be present, seriously). More and more programs have begun taking their spring games off tv. Bulldogs fans likely (unfortunately) just need to get used to this being an annual occurrence.
The good news is, Georgia fans can still get plenty of spring football updates here at A to Z Sports.
Wide receiver (and Georgia Tech transfer) Isiah Canion is reportedly looking great already, which Georgia desperately needs if they want to improve upon last season’s aerial attack. Lawson Luckie is reportedly looking bigger and faster than last year as well, which could prove huge in moving the chains consistently on offense too.
The defensive line depth is looking like it’s finally coming along with some older veterans like Jordan Hall stepping up. The group was a bit young last season, which led to the slow start on pass-rush pressures and sacks, but if the Georgia defensive line starts 2026 clicking on all cylinders then they’re likely headed back to the College Football Playoff.
