Ronda Rousey continues to criticize ‘oligarch schmooze fest’ UFC White House event

by

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will return to the cage on May 16, at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California against fellow women’s fighting pioneer Gina Carano.

As the Rousey vs. Carano fight card filled out with bout announcements, comparisons between the Most Valuable Promotions event and the UFC Freedom 250 fight card at the White House have been predictably made, including by Rousey.

“Rowdy” used to be the face of the UFC but has become one of the fight promotion’s most outspoken critics. On Tuesday, Rousey called the UFC White House event an ‘oligarch schmooze fest.’

“I know I’m biased but I can’t remember ever seeing a single card more stacked than this in mma history. This is what happens when fighters come together and bet on themselves – change is coming, we are not expendable – WE ARE THIS BUSINESS,” Rousey wrote on Instagram.

“This is a fight card for EVERYONE, not some oligarch schmooze fest (*cough* #whitehousecard *cough!), tickets start at just $88 @intuitdome!!!”
