2027 in-state defensive back commits to Tennessee over Vanderbilt

Tennessee received a commitment in its 2027 football recruiting class. Three-star athlete Jaden Butler committed to the Vols over Vanderbilt and Indiana on Thursday.

The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect is an in-state target from Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tennessee. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 41 athlete in the class and No. 24 player in Tennessee.

Tennessee was the first school to offer Butler a scholarship on Oct. 9, 2024. He visited Tennessee for the Vols’ football game against Oklahoma on Nov. 1 and for junior day on Jan. 17. Butler has an official visit to Tennessee scheduled for June 5.

Other schools to offer him scholarships include Duke, Charlotte, Virginia Tech, Missouri, Purdue, Maryland, Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee State, UT Martin, Arkansas, Memphis, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Louisville.

Tennessee has four other commitments in its 2027 football recruiting class: linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, defensive lineman Kadin Fife and quarterback Derrick Baker.
