The Michigan Wolverines are starting to pick up some momentum on the recruiting trail, as they have secured two commitments this week. Things are trending in the right direction, and it feels like that upward trajectory is going to continue.
Five-star DL to visit twice this spring
One of Michigan’s biggest targets recently scheduled another visit, as 2027 five-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou will be on campus this weekend, according to a report from Rivals ($).

This new trip adds onto his visit schedule, where he was already set to take an unofficial visit for Michigan’s spring game on April 18. He also has his official visit set for the weekend of June 19, so he will be in Ann Arbor a lot over the next few months.
Fakatou has talked about his relationship with new defensive line coach Larry Black in the past, and it sounds like he has a lot of trust in the staff.
“The relationship I built over there with the new d-line coach (Larry Black and coach Powell, they’ve just done a good job recruiting me,” Fakatou told Rivals earlier this year. “I feel really confident with them.”
Fakatou is one of the top defensive linemen in the entire 2027 class, so this would be a home run get if Kyle Whittingham and company can get the job done.

Three-star WR recaps Michigan visit
Unofficial visits have been taking place the last couple of weeks, and 2027 three-star wide receiver Gavin Honore was on campus last week. His time in Ann Arbor met his expectations.
“It was good,” Honore told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($). “It was everything like I expected…I’ve had a relationship with coach Simon, but this was my first time actually being able to spend time and see how he coaches his players and all that.
“(Simon is) a young guy, so he can actually go out there and run with the guys, giving them a realistic look at every drill. And that’s what I like in coaches. They can actually go out there and show you what to do, what’s right from wrong.”

For a lot of the recruits, just the fact Michigan is Michigan goes a long way. It’s an iconic brand, and Honore could feel the history inside the Big House.
“Even when I went up to the stadium, the whole stadium, it’s just straight bleachers,” he added. “I just like how they keep it traditional, and it’s a very historic program, so I just got to learn a lot more about the program that I didn’t know. It was just a blessing being out there and getting to be a part of a program like that.”
No official visit has been set for Honore yet, but he is looking into it.
Important Michigan target reclassifies to 2027 class
A new target has emerged for Michigan in the 2027 class now that four-star safety Pole Moala has reclassified. Moala feels ready to get to college football sooner, so he decided to go for it.

“I just got approved today so it’s 100% official,” Moala told Rivals ($). “I’m excited, it’s a great opportunity for me and something I’ve been talking about with my family for awhile. I feel I’m ready and it’s an opportunity that I didn’t think I could pass up. All the colleges that were recruiting me said they liked me even more if I came out early so I didn’t see any drawbacks to it and it’s going to be an exciting opportunity going through the process and taking my visits.”
Moala admitted that Michigan and Ole Miss are at the top of his list right now, and he hasn’t even been to Ann Arbor yet. The Wolverines will welcome Moala to campus on April 6.
“Tyler Stockton is my lead recruiter and he’s a great guy,” he said. “The whole staff is great and I’m excited at what they’re building. I’ve never been to Michigan before but I’ll be up there April 6-8 and excited to check it out. The staff is known for development and coach Stockton has produced some really good defensive backs so my interest is really high.”
Some other schools to watch in Moala’s recruitment are Cal, UCLA and Oklahoma.
