A new fair play category was presented to France’s Florent Mulot following a remarkable act of sportsmanship at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu.

During a match, Mulot noticed that his Chinese opponent had drawn towards the wrong target and alerted him before the shot was released, preventing what would have been a costly mistake. Mulot ultimately lost the match by two points.

“This is a victory I share with all those who care about the values of sport,” said the 33-year-old. “We all practise archery for the pleasure it brings, and for those moments when we feel truly intense emotions.”

“We have to respect our values and stay true to our principles – that’s the only way to achieve a true victory, the one we win for ourselves.”

In the coaching category, Elias Cuesta was recognised as coach of the year leading USA’s national team, while the Korean recurve men were named best team of 2025 after another dominant season on the international circuit.

In the officiating category, Brazil’s Lais Machado Nunes was named judge of the year.

A new best event of the year award was also introduced as part of the 2025 edition, with the Gwangju 2025 Hyundai World Archery Championships named the inaugural winner. The award, selected by the World Archery executive board, recognises excellence in the delivery and impact of international archery events.
