Kentucky and Texas will meet for the second time this season in the Sweet 16 of the Women’s NCAA Tournament on Saturday (3 p.m. ET, ABC) in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Longhorns are the top seeded team in the Forth Worth 3 regional and have advanced to the second weekend of March Madness for the fifth time in six seasons under head coach Vic Schaefer. Texas won the SEC Tournament title, and then comfortably defeated Missouri State and Oregon in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Junior forward Madison Booker is the bus driver for this team, averaging 19.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.

No. 5 Kentucky is in the Sweet 16 for the first time under Kenny Brooks in his second season at the helm, though Brooks is no stranger to success in March. He took Virginia Tech to the Final Four in 2023. The Wildcats defeated Brooks’ alma mater — James Madison — in the first round of this year’s NCAA Tournament and then upset West Virginia on its home floor to advance to the second round. Junior center Clara Strack has powered the Wildcats, averaging 16.9 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game.
Texas defeated Kentucky earlier this season, winning 64-53 on Feb. 9 in Austin, Texas.
The Wildcats will be aiming for revenge and an upset, while the Longhorns are trying to continue their quest to make back-to-back Final Fours.
