UNC football gains commitment from 2027 running back

With spring football kicking off, North Carolina kicked off a crucial recruiting period with another commitment from the class of 2027.

Three-star running back Isaiah Stephens of Sheridan (Ark.) committed to the Tar Heels on Saturday afternoon, he announced on social media. Stephens was one of two players to commit to UNC in the 2027 recruiting cycle for the Tar Heels, along with three-star linebacker Tahseem Butler. The 5-7, 170-pound running back is the No. 3 prospect in the state of Arkansas and the 77th-best running back nationally.

In 2025, as a junior, Stephens totaled 2,000 scrimmage yards and 25 touchdowns. He ran for 1,381 yards and 21 touchdowns on 7.01 yards per carry and added 48 receptions for 619 yards and four touchdowns.

As a sophomore in 2024, Stephens produced more than 2,400 scrimmage yards, including 1,526 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on 7.74 yards per carry, while also catching 61 passes for 911 yards and nine touchdowns. A track standout as well, Stephens reports times of 10.83 seconds in the 100 meters and 22.34 in the 200.
