Daniel Cormier admits it was a tough situation not giving Niko Price his moment after UFC Fight Night 271.
Price (16-11 MMA, 8-11 UFC) was submitted by Michael Chiesa (22-7 MMA, 15-7 UFC) in the first round of their welterweight bout on Saturday’s main card at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.

It was a rare double retirement as Chiesa was given a post-fight interview and a promotional package highlighting his career, but that was not the case for “Hybrid.” Some took umbrage with Price not being acknowledged after he removed his gloves and stood there waiting for his turn to be interviewed, only to be snubbed.
“It was kind of weird, man,” Cormier said on his YouTube channel. “I didn’t know what I was going to do about Niko Price. He was retiring, too, but I just didn’t feel like you could interview him after you interview Michael in this situation.”
Price, 36, hung up his gloves after suffering his fourth consecutive loss. His last win came over Alex Morono at UFC 302 in June 2024.
