Conor McGregor‘s long-awaited octagon return could be just around the corner.

The former two-division UFC champion last fought at UFC 264 in July 2021, losing to Dustin Poirier after suffering a broken leg in the final seconds of the opening round. He’s teased an octagon return for years but it has yet to came to fruition.

The 37 year-old was scheduled to make the walk at UFC 303 in July 2024 against Michael Chandler but pulled out of the event citing a toe injury. This July could see the Irishman back inside the cage.

“Possibly,” White said when asked if McGregor was fighting in July during the UFC Seattle Post-Fight Press Conference. “Nothing is done. Nothing’s even remotely close to being done.”

While negotiations may not be close to being finalized, White is ‘optimistic’ McGregor will be back inside the octagon sooner rather than later.

“I was pretty optimistic at the end of last year. So, end of last year going into this year, I’m still confident,” said White.

It’s unclear what weight class McGregor will compete in if or when he fights again. The UFC 303 matchup against Chandler was scheduled to take place in the welterweight division. McGregor has fought three times in the 170-pound weight class during his UFC career, twice against Nate Diaz and once against Donald Cerrone.
