Camren Hunter drawing interest from Kentucky Basketball

The transfer portal doesn’t open until April 7th, but it’s not too early to start knowing players the Wildcats could be in play for when it opens, and one name to watch for is Central Arkansas guard Camren Hunter.

According to KSR’s Jacob Polacheck, kentucky is expected to be involved with Hunter once he officially enters the portal next week.

Hunter has had a unique college basketball career. He played his first three seasons at Central Arkansas before transferring to Wisconsin for the 2024-25 season after missing the 2023-24 campaign while redshirting due to a foot injury. Even though Hunter averaged less than half a point per game with the Badgers, he still got a taste of Power Four-level basketball.

This past season back at Central Arkansas, Hunter averaged 21 points per game this season, shooting nearly 37 percent from 3-point range. He’s actively pursuing an additional year of eligibility and will also consider a return to Central Arkansas. Because he only appeared in 11 games at Wisconsin following his injury the previous year, it seems like that’s his claim for getting what would be a sixth year of eligibility.

The Bears’ last game was in the Atlantic Sun Tournament Championship Game this past month. Even though they lost to Queens 98-93, Hunter scored 49 of the Bears’ 93 points. That’s over half of the points.

Hunter is one of three names to track when it comes to the portal for Kentucky, joining Butler’s Finley Bizjack, San Diego State’s Miles Byrd, and plenty of other names in the coming weeks.
