Back in December, four-star wide receiver Julian Caldwell cut his recruitment down to three schools. He eventually opened it back up, but now he’s cutting down the competition once again.
The Oregon Ducks are among five finalists for the top-100 recruit, who shortened his recruiting list on Wednesday. Along with the Ducks, Caldwell is also considering Texas Tech, SMU, Texas and Notre Dame. Oregon was one of the initial three finalists in the winter, alongside Texas Tech and Texas.

The Ducks are lined up well in Caldwell’s recruitment. The interest has been mutual for a while now, and Caldwell’s cutdown of his recruiting list comes just days before he is set to take a spring visit to Oregon. The 2027 recruit will be in Eugene on Saturday, April 4.
Caldwell is a consensus four-star recruit and the No. 78 player in the Rivals Industry Ranking and the No. 10 recruit in Texas. The 6-foot, 186-pound wideout exploded in his junior season at Argyle High School, making 94 catches for 1,737 yards and 20 touchdowns. The Texas product visited the Red Raiders last weekend.
Oregon has gone into Texas and won recruiting battles in recent classes, highlighted by taking former five-star receiver Dakorien Moore from Duncanville. Caldwell’s recruitment is shaping up to be a battle between the Ducks, Longhorns and Red Raiders, while Notre Dame could get in the mix if they can schedule an official visit.

Caldwell will take an official visit to Oregon on June 12 and is currently the second-to-last official visit he has scheduled, with Texas being the final one. That could change depending on how he fits Notre Dame into that schedule, but it’s good that the Ducks are near the end and can leave a lasting impression.
