Mike Perry open to potential UFC return: ‘Never say never’

by

Mike Perry isn’t ruling out the idea of coming back to the UFC.

Perry parted ways with the UFC in 2021 and has since found plenty of success in bare knuckle boxing. He is undefeated under the BKFC banner, picking up wins over the likes of Michael Page, Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, Thiago Alves, and most recently Jeremy Stephens. He currently holds BKFC’s “King of Violence” title.

Now, Perry (14-8) will return to the cage for the first time in more than five years when he takes on fellow ex-UFC fighter Nate Diaz (21-13) May 16 at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif., in a fight that streams on Netflix in support of the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano superfight.

“I would definitely say never say never,” Perry said on the “Anik & Florian Podcast.” “I’ve seen things, but I don’t want to talk too soon. I’ve got to focus on the task at hand. I think I just demolish this, and I do my best. You see the best ‘Platinum’ Perry back in the ring, back in the octagon – or, sorry: It’s hexagon for MVP. We’re going to see how all that works out. They do big promotions. They put on a heck of a show. I’m excited to put on for the fans and get back to MMA and showcase what I could do when I go back.”

Perry hasn’t won an MMA bout since defeating Mickey Gall by unanimous decision in June 2020. He has lost four of his past five fights, most recently a decision to Daniel Rodriguez in April 2021 which would put an end to his UFC tenure.
