SMU lands 4-star offensive lineman Qua Ford over Ohio State

by

The SMU Mustangs already have the quarterback of their 2027 recruiting class committed in four-star prospect Malachi Zeigler, and now they have a player to protect him. Four-star interior offensive lineman Qua Ford committed to the Mustangs on Monday, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

SMU has been recruiting Ford for over two years, extending him a scholarship offer in January of 2024. The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder had over a dozen scholarship offers and picked the Mustangs over the Ohio State Buckeyes and Tennessee Volunteers.

Ford is ranked as the No. 232 overall player and No. 15 interior offensive lineman in the Rivals industry ranking. The Texarkana native is also the No. 34 player from Texas.

He is now their highest-ranked commit, narrowly beating out Zeigler, who is the No. 254 overall player. Three-star defensive lineman Amari Vickerson rounds out the class. While the group is small, it is still the 18th best class in the country due to its average player rating of 88.53, which is the 12th best nationally.
