LAS VEGAS – Darrius Flowers met the media Saturday after his win over Lando Vannata at UFC Fight Night 272.
Flowers (13-8-1 MMA, 1-3 UFC) knocked out Vannata (12-8-2 MMA, 4-8-2 UFC) in the second round on the prelims at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

The win was Flowers’ first in the UFC after an 0-3 start. Making things more dramatic, the fight also was his return after a layoff that pushed up against two years. That meant the win was his first in nearly four years.
Getting off that 0-3 rut in the UFC was huge. But Flowers missed weight by a half-pound, which left him ineligible not only for a $100,000 post-fight bonus, but for a $25,000 finish bonus, as well.
Still, Flowers said he was elated just to get the win – and under more ideal circumstances than his trio of losses.
