Left-arm quick Ben Lister has been called into New Zealand‘s squads for their limited-overs tour of Bangladesh after allrounder Kristian Clarke was ruled out through injury.
Clarke, who is currently in Sri Lanka with the New Zealand A side, suffered a split webbing to his right hand while attempting a catch in second one-day game against Sri Lanka A earlier this week.
He had recently emerged into New Zealand’s white-ball sides, playing three ODIs and a T20I on the tour of India earlier this year.
Lister, who has three caps in ODIs and 12 in T20Is and is also part of the A squad in Sri Lanka, last played for New Zealand in 2024 on a tour of Pakistan, although he was also called into the Test squad in Zimbabwe last year.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Ben Sears will miss the ODI leg of the Bangladesh tour having been signed as an overseas replacement by Rawalpindiz in the PSL. Sears will not be replaced in the squad and an NZC release said he would join up for the T20I series.
It’s understood he will likely be available from the second T20I with Rawalpindiz struggling to make the playoffs having lost their first four matches.
The tour is set to see the return of pace bowlers Matthew Fisher, Will O’Rourke and Blair Tickner from injuries. Both the ODI and T20I sides will be captained by Tom Latham.
The timings of the matches have been brought forward to support Bangladesh’s energy-saving initiatives amid the global fuel crisis. The ODI series begins in Dhaka on April 17
