Bill Self is back for another season with the Kansas Jayhawks. That’s the good news.
The uncertain reality is what every college basketball offseason features now: the transfer portal.
Kansas, like every other program, has to figure out how to navigate the players who are leaving and the guys they might find to fill their spots.
The Jayhawks already have four players who are out of college eligibility, assuming they aren’t granted a bonus year: Melvin Council Jr., Tre White, Jayden Dawson and Nginyu Ngala.
Then there’s Darryn Peterson, who will be leaving for the NBA.

Kansas transfer portal news
April 8 – Bidunga will be taking a visit to Louisville at the end of the week.
April 7 – The portal is officially opened. There’s been a prediction in 247Sports that Bidunga will transfer to Texas Tech.
April 6 – Bryson Tiller and Paul Mbiya made their plans known on the day before the portal officially opened.

April 2 – Flory Bidunga’s intention to test the NBA Draft and potentially test the NBA Draft was the first such news out of Kansas.
When does the transfer portal open?
The men’s college basketball transfer portal officially opens on Tuesday, April 7.
It couldn’t open prior to the national championship game, which is Monday night, April 6.
