UNC basketball reaches out to top Arkansas transfer

by

North Carolina will be very active in the transfer portal this season, but this time it will be under a new head coach in Michael Malone.

Malone was quick to get to work, adding longtime confidant Chuck Martin as his top assistant from Arkansas, where he worked under John Calipari. It’s also worth noting that one of the top transfer-portal targets is former Arkansas wing Karter Knox, whom the Tar Heels are reportedly pursuing.

TarHeel247 is reporting that the Tar Heels have made contact with Karter Knox early on in the transfer portal cycle.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound wing is a stocky yet athletic player who provides excellent slashing ability and is fully capable of hitting shots from downtown. He started 42 games for the Razorbacks and has averaged 8.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting 46% from the field and 36.1% from 3-point range.

This season, he averaged 8.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game on 46% shooting from the floor. Extend his stats to a full 40-minute game, and they climb to 14.6 points and 8.2 rebounds.

Knox is the younger brother of former Kentucky star Kevin Knox, who was the No. 9 overall pick in the NBA draft.
