“I’m so proud of (you), baby girl. Yes, yes, yes. Thank you Lord, thank you coach T. Johnson, staff, and all the wonderful ladies on the team I had the honor to meet today. We smiled all the way back to Boulder. God is incredible. Coach, I appreciate (you) man.”
Shelomi Sanders first committed to play at Jackson State Tigers women’s basketball in April 2022 while finishing her high school career at Rockwall-Heath High School. A highly regarded recruit out of Texas, she earned first-team All-District honors in District 10-6A after averaging 16 points, six rebounds, and three steals per game during her senior season.
Her college career has included stops at several programs, though playing time has been limited. Sanders appeared in just two games during the 2022–23 season at Jackson State before transferring when Deion Sanders left the university to take over the Colorado Buffaloes football.
She later joined the Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball but saw minimal action, appearing in five games and logging 11 minutes during her time with the program. Sanders eventually returned to the Southwestern Athletic Conference, transferring to Alabama A&M Bulldogs women’s basketball to play under head coach Dawn Thornton.

During the 2024–25 and 2025–26 seasons, Sanders rotated in and out of the lineup while continuing to develop her role with the Bulldogs. She averaged 1.2 points per game in her first season with the program and 1.4 points per contest the following year.
