Mateusz Gamrot made an example of Esteban Ribovics earlier tonight (Sat., April 11, 2026) at UFC 327 LIVE on CBS/Paramount+ from inside Kaseya Center in Miami, Fla., getting back in the UFC win column with a dominant second-round submission stoppage (arm-triangle choke).
This matchup had all the ingredients for a Gamrot showing and the lightweight veteran took full advantage. He was going to have to be careful because Ribovics is tough, durable, and able to crack with his punches, but it never really came to that. Gamrot was that good with his wrestling and controlling top game. Ribovics didn’t have much time to do anything that he wanted to.

Gamrot’s dominant wrestling trickled in the second round where he brought Ribovics to the ground again and eventually worked his way to an arm-triangle choke. Ribovics waved the referee off and tried to counter with some punches to the body, but a few seconds later he was forced to tap. It was as dominant as we’ve ever seen Gamrot.

Gamrot, 35, was coming off a submission loss to Charles Oliveira last October so this was an important showing to start his 2026 campaign. The perennial lightweight contender took time during his post-fight speech to extend a callout to former UFC featherweight title challenger, Diego Lopes, who is interested in moving up to lightweight after his spot on UFC’s White House card this June.
