The TCU women’s basketball team continued to add talent through the transfer portal Saturday, picking up its fourth commitment of the offseason. Joining the Horned Frogs will be Utah freshman Avery Hjelmstad, who played in 31 games and made one start during the 2025-26 season, helping the Utes to a 19-13 record and a seventh-place finish in the Big 12. The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 5.3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.
Hjelmstad, a four-star recruit out of high school before signing with the Utes, joins Stanford forward Lara Somfai, UNC guard Lanie Grant and Oklahoma State guard Jadyn Wooten in Fort Worth. Hjelmstad scored a career-high 22 points at Colorado State on Dec. 4 and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds against Houston on Jan. 17. The Edmond, Oklahoma native was ranked the No. 49 player in the country out of high school.
