Klaasen and Kamboj rise in Orange and Purple Cap tables

by

There were three 200-plus innings totals on Super Saturday at IPL 2026: Punjab Kings (PBKS) overhauled Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s (SRH) 219 with seven balls in hand, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stopped Delhi Capitals (DC) at 189 after putting up 212. There was some healthy wicket-taking along the way too. All of that meant some changes on the Orange Cap and Purple Cap tables.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the only batter to touch 200 runs in the IPL season so far, continues to lead that table, but his Rajasthan Royals (RR) opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal has been pushed to No. 3 by Heinrich Klaasen.

Klaasen, the SRH No. 4, added to his run of good scores, hitting 39 in 33 balls on Saturday to go with scores of 31, 52 and 62. That took him to 184 runs for the season, one more than Jaiswal.

For DC, Sameer Rizvi had a second successive failure, but his 70 not out and 90 in his first two innings kept him in the top five, at No. 5, with 166 runs. Dhruv Jurel, also of RR, is between Jaiswal and Rizvi.

Also moving up after Saturday were PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, who now has 137 runs and is at No. 8 after scoring 69 not out in PBKS’ win over SRH, and just behind him, CSK’s star batters against DC, Sanju Samson (137 runs, the same as Iyer) and Ayush Mhatre (133 runs).

Slotting in between RR’s Ravi Bishnoi and Prasidh Krishna of Gujarat Titans (GT) on the wicket-taking table is CSK’s Anshul Kamboj, who had his best returns of a good season so far on Saturday, picking up 3 for 35. He has now taken at least one wicket in each of his outings so far.

Kamboj has eight wickets, one fewer than Bishnoi and two better than Krishna.

Behind Krishna, with five wickets, are ten others: CSK’s Jamie Overton, Vijaykumar Vyshak of PBKS, Krishna’s team-mate Rashid Khan, Lungi Ngidi of DC, Prince Yadav of LSG, Jacob Duffy of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Vaibhav Arora of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), SRH’s Harsh Dubey, and two other RR bowlers – Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger.
