After spending the past week away from the team, Bulls guard Josh Giddey spoke on Friday about the recent firings of Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley for the first time, according to Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times.
Giddey, who will miss the final five games of the 2025/26 season due to a lingering hamstring injury, offered a balanced response, noting the business side of the league while also expressing appreciation for what both executives had done for him over the last couple of seasons.
Giddey also addressed the status of head coach Billy Donovan, making it clear he values playing under him. Donovan is expected to meet with ownership once the regular season wraps up.
“He’s been awesome,” he said. “I’ve loved him ever since I got here. He’s been very straightforward, and I think all the guys would say the same thing. He’s very direct. He tells you what you need to hear and not what you want to hear, and he gives it to you straight.
“He coaches hard; he wants to win every game. You see how competitive he is on the sidelines. I couldn’t speak highly enough about him. I hope he’s here for a long time.”
Looking back on his own play, Giddey described his season as “OK, up and down,” while adding that his next step is finding ways to better contribute to winning.
“I’ve got to find ways to impact winning, and that’s probably the next step for me as a player,” he said.
Josh Giddey discussed this week’s front office moves and his relationship with coach Billy Donovan, plus more on the Bulls. https://t.co/IiOGQkSH6m
