Notre Dame basketball gets its first transfer portal commitment

by

Following multiple Notre Dame basketball players opting to leave the program during this transfer portal season, there was a clear need for an influx of talent which happened on Tuesday.

The Irish gained their first commitment in former Winthrop center Logan Duncomb. The first three seasons of his collegiate career weren’t anything spectacular, but this past season the 6-foot, 10-inch and 230-pounder broke out.

Duncomb averaged 18.3-points and 8.9-rebounds and was named as the Big South Player of the Year. While this is just a stopgap move for Notre Dame, it’s a very good one. The former 4-star prospect out of Cincinnati started his career with Indiana, but just couldn’t find his way to the court.

He transferred to Winthrop after two seasons, which has led him back to a major program. Duncomb most likely will be Notre Dame’s starting center, and it’s a big transfer win for head coach Micah Shrewsberry.
