San Francisco Unicorns of Major League Cricket have become the fifth and final team to complete the line-up of the upcoming season of the Global Super League (GSL). This is the first time a team from MLC will turn out in the GSL, which is two seasons old and will see the third one run from July 23 to August 1 in Guyana.
These dates will make it a direct clash with the Hundred but will fit in between MLC and the CPL.
Before Unicorns, Lahore Qalandars of the PSL were the last team to confirm their participation in the GSL. These two teams will join Guyana Amazon Warriors from the CPL, Desert Vipers from the ILT20 and Perth Scorchers from the BBL for the upcoming season.
Qalandars will return to the GSL after last playing in its inaugural season, which was won by Rangpur Riders of the BPL. The 2025 edition was won by Amazon Warriors, who will become the only team to have played all three seasons.
“We are delighted to have the San Francisco Unicorns join the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League,” GSL chairman Sir Clive Lloyd said in a release. “Their inclusion reflects the growing global footprint of the game and the strength of franchise cricket in the United States. We look forward to seeing them compete and contribute to what promises to be an outstanding tournament.”
Qalandars are three-time PSL champions and had finished fourth in the GSL in 2024. Their owner Sameen Rana said: “The inaugural edition was a fantastic platform for high-quality cricket and meaningful global engagement, and we are proud to once again represent Pakistan on this stage. Lahore Qalandars has always stood for pushing boundaries and this tournament allows us to showcase our talent, our culture, and our ambition to a global audience.”
For BBL champions Scorchers, Simon Katich will deputise for Adam Voges, who will be unavailable owing to prior commitments as Trent Rockets assistant coach in the Hundred.
