Sterling, 36, has won 11 of his past 13 bouts. The Serra-Longo Fight Team rep last set foot in the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 257, where he outstruck Brian Ortega to a five-round unanimous decision on Aug. 23. Sterling holds victories over four current or former UFC champions: Petr Yan (twice), Henry Cejudo, T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao. On the other side of the equation, Zalal climbs into the cage on an eight-fight tear. The Factory X export last saw action on Oct. 4, when he dispatched Josh Emmett with an armbar 1:38 into the first round of their UFC 320 pairing. Zalal, 29, has secured 14 of his 18 professional wins by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
UFC Fight Night 274 “Sterling vs. Zalal” also features a lightweight showcase matching Rafa Garcia with Alexander Hernandez, a heavyweight clash pitting Marcus Almeida against Ryan Spann and a pair of bantamweight tilts, as Adrian Luna Martinetti faces Davey Grant and Montel Jackson meets Raoni Barcelos. A middleweight battle between Rodolfo Vieira and Eric McConico anchors the undercard, which streams to Paramount+ at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT.
