Nikola Jokic’s next contract discussion is on hold until the offseason. His agent, Misko Raznatovic, said on Front Office Sports that the Nuggets star is focused on basketball, winning games and chasing another MVP run, not on extension talks right now.

“During the season, his focus is on basketball, winning the games, and trying to get one more MVP title, so all the conversations about the contract extension will happen after the season,” Raznatovic said, via HoopsHype. “So, we practically didn’t touch this topic.”

That timing makes sense for Denver, which is in the middle of a first-round series against Minnesota tied 1-1. Game 3 is Thursday night in Minneapolis, and the Nuggets need Jokic locked into the playoff chase first and the paperwork later.

Jokic, 31, is in the third year of his five-year, $276 million deal and holds a player option for the final season. He can also use the offseason to shape the next step of his Denver future, with his camp signaling that no extension talks are expected during the postseason grind.

The numbers explain why Denver is comfortable waiting. Jokic finished the regular season with 27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds and 10.7 assists per game, once again anchoring the Nuggets as one of the league’s most complete offensive engines.

Raznatovic also made clear that, in his view, Jokic’s production still belongs in the MVP conversation. “My opinion is yes, that he deserves it,” he said, adding that Jokic also deserved the award a couple of years ago when Joel Embiid won it.

That kind of season-long focus fits Jokic’s reputation. He has continued to operate as Denver’s decision-maker, post scorer, and playmaking hub, while Jamal Murray’s 25.4 points and 7.1 assists have given the Nuggets a second star to lean on in the series.

For now, the basketball priority is clear. Denver wants Jokic to stay centered on the Timberwolves, while the contract question waits for a calmer calendar and a full offseason window.
