Toss Gujarat Titans chose to bowl vs Chennai Super Kings

On a day when excessive heat warnings had gone out in Chennai, Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to brave the heat straightaway. Gujarat Titans will be bowling first, a potential nod to the idea that their batting line-up, which is heavily dependent on the top three, might like to know what they’re chasing instead of being worried about setting a total and worrying whether it is par.

Conditions, if anything, are expected to assist spin and natural wear and tear might only further that trend.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Chennai Super Kings captain, was perfectly happy with putting a total on the board. Currently out of form, he made a mention of how he’s been getting starts and when he feels it’s his day, he’ll cash in.

CSK made one change, bringing in Urvil Patel and suggested they might “play around” with the Impact Player. Ramakrishna Ghosh, who isn’t in the XI but was named as one of the subs, had measured his run-up ahead of the toss. GT made one change as well, bringing in fast-bowling allrounder Arshad Khan for Prasidh Krishna, who hasn’t even been named in the Impact Player list.
