Baylor basketball located the potential replacement for top scorer Cameron Carr Monday. He happens to share family ties with incoming Bears talent Kayden Mingo. Younger brother Dylan Mingo is off to Waco as a key College Basketball Recruiting win.

ESPN college basketball insider Jeff Borzello revealed the roster move Monday afternoon. The younger Mingo additionally told ESPN’s Paul Biancardi that “it is a blessing to play with him [Kayden] again.”

Kayden Mingo bolted from Penn State via the College Basketball Transfer Portal. The freshman hit an average of 13.7 points per game in his lone season with the Nittany Lions. He also dished out 4.3 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.

But Dylan boosts Baylor’s recruiting class greatly for 2026. Head coach Scott Drew lures in the nation’s No. 2 combo guard for the ’26 class per 247Sports composite. Drew also scores a huge state of New York win too, as Mingo is the Empire State’s top recruit for his graduating class.

The star from Long Island Lutheran reeled in 21 total offers including from some power conference teams. National Championship Game runner-up UConn surfaced as one of his potential suitors. Other March Madness teams entered the mix too: Miami, Alabama, North Carolina, St. John’s, Texas and ’26 Final Four representative Illinois all offered.

Adam Finkelstein of 247Sports raved about Mingo’s potential in his prospect evaluation.

“Mingo is a big guard with length, versatility, natural feel for the game, and an ability to get wherever he wants with the ball in his hands,” Finkelstein wrote.

Mingo also joins four-star forward signing Elijah Williams of San Antonio as part of this ’26 group. Both come over as Carr heads to the NBA Draft and fellow star Tounde Yessofou also leaves.
