With the new season just a few days away, veteran guard Natasha Cloud is still without a team. She was left unsigned by the New York Liberty after one season, as the team prioritized other players in free agency.

Cloud had an impressive campaign with the Liberty, averaging 10.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.2 steals. She started 41 games, serving as the backcourt mate of Sabrina Ionescu.

At 34 years old, it seems Cloud is still peaking, and she would be a valuable asset to any squad that would take her.

Based on the report from The Athletic’s Annie Costabile, the three-time All-Defensive Team member might find a new home soon.

“Natasha Cloud remains unsigned heading into the second week of training camp. Speculation has swirled as to why, but multiple sources tell me numerous teams have expressed interest in the veteran point guard,” wrote Costabile.

There were rumors that the front office of the Liberty was not too keen on Cloud’s outspokenness on political issues and social injustice, but general manager Jonathan Kolb maintained that it was not the case. He claimed that releasing Cloud was about roster flexibility, as reported by NetsDaily’s Lucas Kaplan.

“What really happened here, for us, isn’t about fit. It was about our targets in free agency and the condensed nature, where we can see how quickly things really move. But also, it probably felt like they took a while too because when you’re in the dark on things, and we’re pursuing other opportunities, it probably doesn’t feel good,” said Kolb.

He also described Cloud as “amazing” and a “New York legend.”

The Las Vegas Aces, the Phoenix Suns, the Minnesota Lynx, and the Dallas Wings are among the teams being linked to Cloud.
