Wisconsin women’s basketball adds Julia Ford as assistant

MADISON – The roster building Robin Pingeton has done for her team this month isn’t limited to players.

The Wisconsin women’s basketball coach has added to her roster of assistant coaches, too.

Pingeton, who signed four players from the transfer portal this cycle and added an incoming freshman, announced the addition of Julia Ford on Tuesday, April 28.

Ford, who worked with Pingeton at Missouri, comes to the Badgers after one season at Grand Canyon. Her addition gives Wisconsin five assistant coaches.

The 2026-27 season will be Ford’s seventh as a college coach. She started her career as a graduate assistant at Clemson (2020-22) and then spent one season at Coastal Carolina before joining Pingeton at Missouri in 2023. Ford spent her first season there as a special assistant to the head coach and was elevated to an assistant for the 2024-25 season.

Ford also gained international experience when she coached Team USA’s Women’s 3×3 U19 Nations League squad to a FIBA Women’s AmeriCup title in Chile last year.

“Having worked with her at Missouri, I’ve seen the impact she brings,” Pingeton said in a press release. “Julia is a strong teacher of the game with a proven ability to develop players, and her energy and connection with student-athletes make her a great addition to our staff.”

Ford’s greatest success has come with working with guards. She played 89 games at the position as a player at Bentley University in Massachusetts.

“I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to join the Wisconsin women’s basketball program,” Ford in the press release. “Coach Pingeton has created an environment of growth that holds student-athletes to a high standard on and off the court. I look forward to working with this outstanding group of coaches and players. I am grateful to Coach Pingeton for her trust and support in welcoming me to her staff. On, Wisconsin!”
