BUIES CREEK — After 10 seasons leading Campbell’s women’s basketball program, Ronny Fisher will step down as head coach to pursue another opportunity.
“On behalf of the entire Campbell community, I want to thank Coach Fisher for his leadership and lasting impact on our women’s basketball program for the last decade,” Campbell Director of Athletics Hannah Bazemore said.

“Ronny is an outstanding person, leader and coach who has poured into this proud program, not just with championships and accolades, but in the lives of our student-athletes, as well as the Campbell campus and community. We wish Ronny and his family nothing but the best in their next chapter.”
“Ronny Fisher has been a winner on and off the court,” Campbell President William M. Downs said. “He built a strong program at Campbell, with the signature foundations of that program being character and values. I’m excited for him as he takes on a new opportunity, and we hope he’ll come back to The Creek routinely in the years ahead to join us in celebrating his positive and lasting legacy.”
“My family and I have enjoyed an amazing 10 years at Campbell University,” Fisher said. “I have been blessed to serve alongside the most incredible people who joined our basketball family as players, coaches, managers and support staff during this time. I want to thank each member for your loyalty and dedication in helping to build and sustain such a special program.
“Our family has also been touched by the outpouring of love we have felt from the Campbell community. We chose to come to Buies Creek because we thought it felt like home during the interview process. That feeling became a reality and we are forever grateful for the many lasting relationships we have built.”

Fisher eclipsed 20 wins in six of his 10 seasons in Buies Creek, tying the program-record of 23 wins in the 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons.
Fisher led the Camels to the 2020 and 2022 Big South regular season championship, while the team was the runner-up in the Big South tournament in 2019, 2021 and 2022, and in the Coastal Athletic Association tournament in 2025.
The Camels earned their first ever invitation to the WNIT in 2022, and the team won its first WNIT game in 2025 by beating Coastal Carolina in the first round.
Fisher also led the Camels to two wins in the 2019 Women’s Basketball Invitational, and he is responsible for all three postseason wins in program history.

“Our program has graciously been given what was needed to be successful and the experience for our athletes has been excellent,” he said.
Throughout Fisher’s tenure at Campbell, he has coached 17 all-conference selections, nine all-freshman team selections, seven all-tournament team selections, three CAA All-Defensive team members, one CAA Rookie of the Year, one CAA Deah Ehlers Leadership award recipient and four consecutive conference scholar-athletes of the year.
During his time leading the program, the Camels are the only program in the NCAA to own a top-25 scoring defense in nine of the last 10 seasons. The Camels also ranked in the top-30 nationally in field goal percentage defense in seven of the past 10 seasons.
A national search for Campbell’s next head coach will begin immediately.
