Three-star wide receiver commits to Penn State

by

The Penn State Nittany Lions were red hot on the recruiting trail in April, landing commitments from 11 prospects as they work to build their 2027 recruiting class. They have kept it going in May, landing a commitment from three-star wide receiver Jamir Dean on Friday.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder is from Alcoa, Tennessee, and picked the Nittany Lions over the Purder Boilermakers, Arkansas Razorbacks, and UConn Huskies. Penn State worked quickly to secure his commitment, offering him a scholarship on Feb. 20. He made the trip to State College last week for his first visit, and on Friday, he made things official.

Dean is ranked as the No. 681 overall player and No. 100 wide receiver in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 26 player from Tennessee.

He had a productive junior season at Acloa High School. In 13 games, he caught 34 passes for 590 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also played some on defense and special teams, finishing with 13 tackles and an interception while averaging 33.7 yards on kickoff returns and 11.8 yards on punt returns.

His addition gives Penn State 14 commits after entering April with just two. The group is ranked as the 14th best in the country and the 5th best in the Big Ten by Rivals. He is the second wide receiver they have landed, joining four-star prospect Landon Blum.
