Caitlin Clark is adamant that Kelsey Mitchell “embodies what the Indiana Fever are all about.”
Clark may be the Fever’s cornerstone superstar, but the two-time All-Star herself will be the first to say that Mitchell is one of the most important players on the squad.

A testament to this is that the organization wasted no time in extending Mitchell’s deal during the offseason. The All-WNBA guard entered restricted free agency, but the Fever made sure she wasn’t going anywhere.
Mitchell was the Fever’s first signing as soon as the free agency window opened. The three-time All-Star signed a one-year supermax contract with the team, amounting to a staggering $1.4 million.

Mitchell took center stage in a recent profile video by the Fever’s media team. Clark was one of the players who was asked to share her thoughts on Mitchell. The former WNBA Rookie of the Year had nothing but high praise for her veteran teammate.

“She definitely makes my job really easy,” Clark said. “There’s no better backcourt partner in the entire league than her.
“She’s the fastest player in the league. She’s the best cutter. She’s a tremendous shooter. She defends 94 feet. And she’s just a really good teammate and a really great person.”
Clark’s comments hold a lot of weight. The 24-year-old clearly holds Mitchell in very high regard, and Clark did not hesitate to make her true feelings known.

Clark will be the centerpiece for the Fever this coming season. However, based on her statement here, it is clear that Clark is relying on Mitchell to be with her every step of the way as they look to lead the team to ultimate success.
Clark was limited to just 13 games last season due to multiple soft tissue injuries. Mitchell carried much of the load for the Fever with Clark sidelined.
Mitchell averaged a career-high 20.2 points on 45.6% shooting. She was named an All-Star for a third straight year, included in the All-WNBA First Team, and finished fifth in the MVP race.

With Mitchell at the forefront, the Fever won the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup. They also made it to the WNBA playoffs semifinals.
Clark is now fully healthy as she takes her place alongside Mitchell in the backcourt this coming season. The sky is the limit for the Fever with these two at the helm.
“I certainly missed playing with her last year, so really excited about that again,” Clark stated.
