Man City win Women’s Super League title after Arsenal draw at Brighton

by

Manchester City have won the Women’s Super League title for only the second time in their history, thanks to Arsenal‘s 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion.

FÅ«ka Tsunoda opened the scoring for Brighton, and while Frida Maanum got Arsenal level shortly after the hour mark, it wasn’t enough as the visitors knew they could not afford to drop any points.

Although Arsenal still have three games remaining, Man City sit 10 points clear at the top of the table — putting the title mathematically out of reach for the Gunners.

It’s an immediate success for City boss Andrée Jeglertz, who was appointed in July 2025.

“Helping guide this team to the WSL title is something I will never forget,” Jeglertz said.

“The girls have met every challenge in front of them head on and have been an absolute joy to coach this season. In the good moments and the bad, they’ve always stuck together and found a way to win — something that all great champions do.”

City knew the title was within touching distance after a late goal from Rebecca Knaak was enough to see off Liverpool 1-0 on Saturday.

Central to City’s title charge has been the strength of their attack — with Khadija Shaw‘s 19 goals placing her top of the scoring charts this season.

Vivianne Miedema and Kerolin have also scored 10 and nine goals, respectively, this WSL term, while they’ve only shipped a total of 18 — the second fewest in the league.

The result ends Chelsea’s run of six consecutive WSL titles, and is City’s first in 10 years.
