Bayern Munich 1-1 Paris Saint-Germain: Reigning champions book place in final to face Arsenal in Budapest — as it happened

Paris Saint-Germain booked their spot in the Champions League final against Arsenal after drawing 1-1 with Bayern Munich to take a 6-5 aggregate win.

In a first leg that had more goals than any previous semi-final, we were hoping for more of the same and after Ousmane Dembélé scored just three minutes into the tie, it looked as though we might.

But this PSG team are reigning champions for a reason and in many ways, it was the perfect away performance at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern huffed and puffed but were never really allowed to test Matvey Safonov in the PSG goal.

Pacho was awarded Player of the Match and the indefatigable Marquinhos, somehow only 31 despite seemingly being around since the game’s inception was also impeccable.

Bayern were frustrated with a couple of handball shouts in the first half, the first when Nuno Mendes appeared to deliberately handball when on a yellow card and the second when the ball was smacked at Joao Neves’ outstretched arm by Vitinha.

Neither were given, with the referee ruling that Konrad Laimer had already handballed before the Mendes one and that the second one was allowed as it was his own teammate.

By the letter of the law, there is not much Bayern can complain about and ultimately they were unable to create enough to break down a stubborn PSG defence.

Harry Kane did score to make things briefly interesting four minutes into stoppage time, but there was not enough time.

Luis Enrique and the PSG bench ran onto the field in celebration and rightfully so, it was the other side of the reigning champions tonight — showcasing their incredible defence to match their world class attack.
