After the abundance of trash talk and threats of violence outside the cage, all that’s left for Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland is the fighting at UFC 328. Their five-round UFC middleweight championship bout takes place Saturday, May 9 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
The road to this highly anticipated showdown hasn’t been pretty, with threats of gun violence and retaliation along the way, but these two bitter rivals are finally ready to settle their differences.

UFC 328 marks the first title defense for undefeated Chimaev (15-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC), who claimed the 185-pound championship with a dominant win over Dricus Du Plessis last August at UFC 319.
Strickland (30-7 MMA, 17-7 UFC), a former middleweight champ, will try to reclaim UFC gold for the second time. It was believed that Nassourdine Imavov would be first up for Chimaev’s belt, but Strickland stole that shot with a sterling performance against Anthony Hernandez that ended with a third-round TKO win in February.
