Where does Rivals rank Oklahoma’s 2027 recruiting class?

The Oklahoma Sooners, led by head coach Brent Venables and general manager Jim Nagy, have already put together quite the 2027 recruiting class, landing 21 total commits by mid-May. As it turns out, OU has one of the entire country’s strongest classes to this point, with still a long way to go until December’s Early Signing Period.

Rivals released brand-new team recruiting rankings for the class of 2027, and Oklahoma came in at No. 3 in the rankings. The Sooners trailed only Texas A&M and Texas Tech, despite not nearly having the deep pockets that the Aggies and Red Raiders enjoy.

Of OU’s 21 commits in the cycle, 11 are on the offensive side of the ball. Quarterback Jamison Roberts, running back Keldrid Ben, wide receivers Demare Dezeurn, Greydon Howell, and Tra’Von Hall, tight end Seneca Driver, and offensive linemen Cooper Hackett, Kaeden Penny, Luke Wilson, Issac Coughran, and Tyson Ross are all pledged to the Sooners.

Roberts, Driver, Hackett, and Penny are the big names of the group, as Oklahoma has some potentially impact players to plug into offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle’s system when the time comes.

OU’s other 10 commits in the 2027 class are all on the defensive side of the ball. Defensive linemen Elija Harmon, Deven Robertson, Sione Felila, Krew Jones, and Samuel Nelson, linebackers Cooper Witten and Taven Epps, and defensive backs Mikhail McCreary, Mikyal Davis, and Jaylen Scott are all pledged to Oklahoma.

Jones, Witten, and Epps highlight the group, and the Sooners should have some very key pieces to play big roles in Venables’ defense down the road. OU is still looking for its first special teams commit in the ’27 class.

Venables and Nagy have done an excellent job building this recruiting class, which could end up being Oklahoma’s highest-ranked class in some time. After a 10-win season and a playoff berth quieted some of the negative recruiting that the Sooners were having to deal with, OU’s coaching staff and front office have been taking full advantage of the on-field success, and have been using it to bolster the high school recruiting effort in a big way.
