Austin Dillon has been a stable presence within Richard Childress Racing since joining the NASCAR Cup Series in 2014. Dillon has two Crown Jewel victories, coming in the 2017 Coca-Cola 600 and 2018 Daytona 500; however, he has struggled in recent years. So, could the Richard Childress Racing driver’s ride be in jeopardy?

Dillon is expected to return to the No. 3 car for Richard Childress Racing during the 2027 Cup Series season, as reported by FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass. Dillon has won races in each of the last two Cup Series seasons, despite struggling in overall performance. This is similar to Kyle Busch and the No. 8 team since 2023.

While Dillon should be returning to Richard Childress Racing, it is unclear who will be joining him in the No. 8 car. Busch is in a contract year, and Jesse Love is waiting in the wings for a Cup Series ride. Either way, Dillon will continue to be the steady force in Richard Childress Racing, driving the No. 3 car.
