Despite entering the EuroLeague Final Four as underdogs, Valencia Basket believe they are fully prepared to challenge powerhouse Real Madrid. Ahead of Valencia’s semi-final showdown, Jean Montero discussed confidence, pressure, and the opportunity to compete on Europe’s biggest stage.
“The team who impact the game from the beginning will be winner of the match. Real Madrid is the tough opponent but we are here now and we will give our best”, said Montero before the EuroLeague semi-final game against Real Madrid.
Although Valencia Basket entered the competition as underdogs and are still viewed that way, they have proven they are capable of competing with Europe’s elite.
“Since the beginning of the season nobody thought that we supposed to be here. I would say that being the underdog is not the bad thing, we just need to have the right mentality and try to compete here. We all feel great as underdog, not a lot of pressure, people already think you will lose. You just need to go out there and play”, said Montero who obviously enjoys his moment.
“It feels great to be here, this is the great opportunity to show my talent and great opportunity to compete”, finished young Valencia guard.
