The Minnesota Timberwolves have been consistently in the postseason ever since the 2021-22 season, and went into multiple trips to Western Conference Semifinals.
However, it was all over again as the emerging San Antonio Spurs eliminated the Wolves in the semifinals, where fans awaited every year for superstar Anthony Edwards to acquire his first championship.
In speaking of the series, Edwards discussed the struggle regarding the matchup against Victor Wembanyama who dominated to end the series at six games.
“That n**** is like 8’5 when he spread out. The rim ain’t nothing but 10 feet! You got to put that b**** so high above the rim. He’s like a statue. It’s so hard to beat them when he’s on the floor just because of his defense. I was so happy that n**** got kicked out. I hope they suspend him {laughs}. Imma email their ass right now!” Edwards joked, via his YouTube channel.
The Minnesota star also addressed a controversial moment that went viral during, and he made it clear he has no regrets about what happened.
“Yeah it’s 8 minutes but we not going back in the game. When you win a playoff series everybody is celebrating at the end of the game. They’ll be smiling while I’m pissed off. I was like ‘let me go ahead and congratulate these boys because I’m not going to be laughing with y’all after you whooped my ass,” Edwards said.
Edwards had been caught dapping up the Spurs, while the game was still technically on going and trailed by over 30 points at that time. It became viral as former players viewed the gesture as waving white flag too early.
“So I gave them n****s the respect they deserved. I could’ve waited until the end of the game. That’s other people’s perspective. But yeah, I did what I did. That’s why I’m me and y’all are whoever y’all are. It’s just that simple,” he added.
