Michigan earned the commitment of four-star tight end Colt Lumpris on Saturday night.
Lumpris is ranked as the No. 268 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Ranking.
Here are three things you need to know about Lumpris.

Flipped from Alabama
Lumpris committed to Alabama back in December but that all changed on Saturday when he flipped to Michigan after a big push by the Wolverines. Lumpris was supposed to take an official visit to Alabama on May 29 ahead of an official visit to Michigan on June 5. In short, Michigan secured Lumpris’ flip/commitment before he headed to Tuscaloosa.
Massive at tight end with high receiving upside
Lumpris stands 6-foot-7 and 235 pounds and is still just 16 years old.
247 Sports’ Hudson Standish believes Lumpris will be a “clear red zone threat who will battle at the catch point” and is a “pure ball tracker” that can generate explosive leg power with impressive jump timing.

“Should be viewed as an immensely high-ceiling pass catcher with an ideal blend of route-running savvy and
contested catch ability,” Standish said. “Could eventually draw looks from NFL scouts if he keeps progressing.”
Freddie Whittingham played key role in Lumpris’ commitment
Michigan tight end coach Freddie Whittingham appears to have really helped assist with Lumpris’ flipping to Michigan. Whittingham is well respected and coached a really good at end at Utah in 2023 first round pick Dalton Kincaid (Buffalo Bills).
“I’ve always loved Michigan,” Lumpris said, per Ethan McDowell of On3. “It’s a great program. I’ve been watching them since I was younger, so I’ve always had an interest in them. And with Coach Freddie now, it feels like something that could potentially happen, but we’ve got to figure out what’s right right now.”

Will Lumpris have the same kind of success as Dalton Kincaid? If so, Michigan’s offense will have a dangerous tight end catching passes in the fall of 2027.
