On Sunday afternoon, the Seattle Storm are slated to welcome the Washington Spirit into the Climate Pledge Arena, as they look to build on its win against the Connecticut Sun earlier in the week. Zia Cooke went off for Seattle, dropping 25 points on 50 percent shooting from the field, along with five rebounds.

While all eyes will be on Cooke to see if she can replicate her production off the bench again, there is another storyline to follow for Sunday’s match: the potential debut of Awa Fam. According to the WNBA’s injury report, Fam is listed as “probable” due to reconditioning.
Why was Fam out for the Storm’s previous matches?
The 19-year-old was taken with the third overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft by Seattle, but was unavailable for a short period of time as she was still playing for Valencia in Spain’s Liga Femenina, as the team secured its third-straight title.
During her time with Valencia, Fam averaged nine points, 4.9 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks per game, meaning that she’ll provide some meaningful depth in the front court for Seattle. Fam will share time under the basket with the likes of Stefanie Dolson, and Dominique Malonga, who is in the WNBA’s concussion protocol following a physical match against the Toronto Tempo.
