Sabrina Ionescu made her season debut on Sunday for New York, returning from a preseason foot injury, but the Liberty had no answer for the visiting Dallas Wings in the second half of a 91-76 loss. Satou Sabally scored 20 points for New York in her second game back from a concussion sustained during last year’s WNBA Finals, while Ionescu went for 11 points and seven assists. Breanna Stewart finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds but shot just 7-of-18 as the Liberty hit only 38.9% on the afternoon.

The Fire picked up a 99-80 road win over their expansion partner, the Toronto Tempo, on Saturday. Portland got 28 points off 17 Tempo turnovers and pulled away with a 55-point second half. Emily Engstler finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, and four blocked shots while Carla Leite went for 15 points and nine assists. Bridget Carleton also scored 15 points, and Teja Oblak handed out nine assists in 17 minutes of reserve duty.
Portland beat the Liberty at home on May 12, with New York bouncing back with a homecourt victory on May 14. Stewart comes in averaging 20.7 points and 9.3 rebounds for the Liberty, with Pauline Astier getting 13.5 points per game and Julie Vanloo posting 5.4 assists a night. Carleton tops the Fire with an average of 17.5 points, Leite nets 15.0 points per game, and Sug Sutton drops 11.3 points and 5.7 assists per outing.
