A 1-of-1 Victor Wembanyama rookie card has sold for $5.1 million in a private transaction, marking one of the most significant sales in sports memorabilia history and reinforcing the rising market value tied to elite young NBA stars.
Fanatics Collect confirmed the deal on Tuesday, May 26, stating the sale was brokered for the unique card featuring the San Antonio Spurs center. The transaction sets a new record for the most expensive Wembanyama card ever sold.
The previous record for a Wembanyama card stood at $860,100, making the new sale a substantial jump in valuation for the Spurs star’s collectibles market.
According to Fanatics Collect, the card now ranks as the fourth highest NBA card sale of all time. It is also the most expensive non-autographed NBA card ever sold, underscoring the rarity-driven demand in the modern trading card market.
Wembanyama’s rapid rise on the court has directly aligned with his accelerating presence in the collectibles space. The French center completed the 2025-26 season averaging 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks across 64 games, establishing himself as one of the league’s most impactful two-way players.
His defensive dominance continues into the postseason, where he is averaging 23.1 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks over 14 playoff games while helping San Antonio advance deep into the Western Conference playoffs.
The Spurs finished the 2025-26 regular season 62-20, placing second in the Western Conference and emerging as one of the league’s premier defensive teams. Wembanyama’s rim protection and scoring efficiency played a central role in that success.
