The biggest decision of Kentucky’s offseason could come today

by

Wednesday is a big day for the basketball world. Players who entered the NBA draft have to decide by 11:59 P.M. whether to stay in the draft and give up their college eligibility, or return to school for another season and try to boost their draft stock. The Kentucky Wildcats are watching closely.

One of the biggest decisions, especially where the Wildcats are concerned, is by Milan Momcilovic. If he pulls out of the draft, Mark Pope and his staff are hoping to lure him to Lexington as a major piece of next year’s squad.

Momcilovic is a lethal shooter who made 49% of his three-point attempts last season for Iowa State. He is also a good scorer, averaging nearly 17 points per game, and that’s something Kentucky badly needs heading into the 2026-27 season. After losing Otega Oweh and Denzel Aberdeen, their best scorers are gone, and they have a lot of question marks in that department. Momcilovic would change that.

Landing Momcilovic won’t come cheap. It has been reported that it will take $6 million +, but Kentucky should have the money to spend after missing on Tyran Stokes and some of the other top transfer portal candidates.

St. John’s and Louisville are considered the other top candidates, but Arizona and Iowa State have also been mentioned. Kentucky might need him the most of those teams, though. Fans can expect some news soon.
