Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream were thoroughly outclassed on Wednesday night by the Minnesota Lynx and wily veteran Natasha Howard.

The Lynx improved to 5-2 on the season with a 96-81 win over the Dream, who fell to 4-2. Reese, and nearly the entire Atlanta starting lineup, had a rough night.
The polarizing Reese played 27 minutes and scored 10 points. She was 3-for-8 from the field, including 0-for-2 from 3-point range, while making 4-of-4 from the foul line.
Reese added eight rebounds and five assists with only two turnovers, so that was positive. She also nabbed a steal.

But in overall impact, the Dream were a minus-16 when Reese was on the floor, among the worst on the team behind the minus-18 put up by both Naz Hillmon and Jordin Canada.

Atlanta also got a rough night from star Rhyne Howard, who shot just 4-for-14 for 10 points.
It was Natasha Howard (no relation) of the Lynx who helped steal the show. The long-time WNBA stalwart went for 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks as she totally dominated the frontcourt.
Minnesota’s Courtney Williams went for 25 points and seven assists, and Olivia Miles had 16 points and eight assists. All five Lynx starters finished in double figures.
While the Dream have gotten off to a good start, it was a bad sign for them — they played an across-the-board talented team and really struggled.

Reese has had some self-adversity to respond to already this season, but this will be the first real need-to-bounceback spot for the Dream since Reese arrived from Chicago, and it’ll be up to Atlanta to show they can respond to a tough defeat.
