That list could include a number of national seeds, including No. 1 UCLA. The Bruins fell to Saint Mary’s in the most stunning result of Friday’s opening games, picking up just their seventh loss of the season. Now the wire-to-wire No. 1 will have to beat Virginia Tech to keep its season alive.

The other national seeds to go down Friday and put themselves on the chopping block today were No. 4 Auburn, No. 9 Southern Miss and No. 10 Florida State. They’ll have to hope home-field advantage can help carry them through on Day 2.

Beyond the seeds, some other powerhouse programs facing elimination Saturday include Tennessee, Wake Forest, Oregon State, USC, Oklahoma State, Virginia and 2025 College World Series finalist Coastal Carolina.
